Recognizing the immense visual strain experienced by commercial drivers, a dedicated free eye health screening camp was recently organized at the local IMA hall, specifically tailored for taxi and lorry drivers. Long hours on the road, varying light conditions, and constant focus make this group particularly vulnerable to undetected vision issues. During the camp, experienced medical professionals conducted thorough ophthalmology check-ups to screen for refractive errors, cataracts, and other ocular conditions. By proactively addressing the visual health of these essential workers, the initiative provided critical medical care while actively promoting better road safety for the entire community.
The event was significantly bolstered by the presence of the Superintendent of Police, Jagtial, who attended as the Chief Guest to underscore the vital link between clear vision and accident prevention. To ensure immediate and tangible results from the screenings, free eyeglasses were distributed on the spot to drivers diagnosed with vision impairments. This collaborative outreach effort not only removed the financial barriers to essential eye care for these drivers but also highlighted a strong, united commitment to public welfare and occupational health within the region.
